Rudolph Smith is a loving and devoted Christian. Rudolph was introduced to the Lord at an early age as a student at Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, Ga. Every Sunday, his dorm houseparent would take him to Sunday school. He began to learn about Jesus, but it wasn’t until adulthood that Rudolph truly embraced the Lord. Even though Rudolph attended church regularly after graduation, it wasn’t until a few years later that he “felt a fire within”. It was this moment that compelled him to continue on his path of growing with the Lord.
Rudolph joined Mabel White Baptist where he served the Deaf Community for 28 years. Rudolph continued to grow with the Lord, but knew his gifts were meant for something more. He saw a great need to minister to his peers. As a result, Rudolph began attending theology school in North Carolina and continues now with his goal of earning his degree. As God’s plan would have it, Rudolph was presented with an opportunity through Christ Chapel to continue to build a Deaf Ministry that had recently begun to grow. Through much prayer and encouragement from family, Christ Chapel and members of the Deaf community, Rudolph now serves the Lord by preaching for his peers in Middle Georgia. He hopes to grow the Deaf ministry at Christ Chapel and, through this service, inspire with God’s word – both Deaf and hearing.
Rudolph wed Doris J. Riley of Atlanta, GA, July 2007. Doris accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at 30 years old. She graduated from Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, Tennessee. She has taught Sunday school at her church Crussell & Freeman Church of the Deaf in Atlanta. Also she has been active as Superintendent of Sunday School, as Trustee, and in choir. Also former Woman Missionary Union as president and secretary. Also she taught sign language class. Currently she is focused in Deaf health issues. Rudolph has three daughters and Doris has two children. Together they bring much experience to the Deaf Ministry.
